Carriage Horses

Our carriage horses have the best in veterinary care, everyday care, living quarters, and pastures.  At minimum, our horses consume 24 pounds of grain, 3 pounds of supplement, 3/4 of a bale of hay, and 30 gallons of water DAILY.

Your patronage makes their care possible.

We are thinking of retiring one or two of our horses.  If you are interested in our retired carriage horse support program, please send us an email for details.

The photos and bios below will introduce you to our exclusive stable of wonderful Percheron Draft Horse carriage horses.  However, the better way to meet them is in person on a carriage ride!

Toby

Toby has been with us for nine years and will be 13 years old in 2008. He loves his turnouts with best friend, Jim. He is quiet and loving. He is known as "the model" for his large eyes and taller, slimmer build. 18.1 hands tall and 1800 pounds.

Jim

Jim has been with us for seven years. He came from Canada and fit right in. He loves food and his best friend Toby. He is very smart and knows how to open doors and gates! Jim is known as "Curious George" and has to know all that is going on around him. He will be 16 in 2008. 17.2 hands tall and 1800 pounds.

Sam

Sam is our very own son of Flash and Rosie. He will be 8 in February 2008 and is an unusual white color for his age. He is known as lazybones, unless there is food involved. 18.2 hands tall and 2000 pounds.

Chance

Chance is 6 years old and new to the fleet in 2006. He is very inquisitive and loves to visit any horse getting a bath by the pasture he lives in. Chance is still growing and is currently 18.1 hands tall and 2000 lbs.

Charlie

Charlie is 6 years old and also new to the fleet in 2006. He and Chance came together but he has made friends with everyone. He is very shy around people but very sweet. Charlie is the smallest at 17 hands and 1700 lbs.

Mowing Hay

Our carriage horses also perform some of the more traditional farming tasks. Here Toby and Chance mow hay alongside our neighbor's tractor. You may be surprised that -for a good job- the horses aren't really much slower for this task than the tractor. Nothing more satisfying than a good day's work with friends- both horse and human!

Ride A Draft? Of course!

We are often asked can you ride a horse this big? Sure! This is Kristen riding Sam.
